Should You Automatically Renew Your Current Plan?

Automatic renewal may be convenient, but it can leave you with unexpected changes.

Before renewing, confirm:

  • Your doctors and hospitals are still in-network

  • Your prescriptions remain covered

  • Your estimated income is current

  • Your premium tax credit is based on accurate information

  • Your deductible and copayments have not changed

  • Another available plan does not better fit your needs

Even if you want to keep the same insurance company, review the exact plan rather than relying only on the carrier’s name.

Prepare Before You Enroll

Have the following information available:

  • Names and dates of birth for household members

  • Home and mailing addresses

  • Social Security numbers, when required

  • Immigration documents for applicants who use them

  • Projected 2027 household income

  • Employer-coverage information

  • Current insurance information

  • Names of doctors, hospitals and prescriptions

  • Any Marketplace notices requesting updated information

Your income estimate should reflect what you reasonably expect your household to earn during 2027—not simply what appeared on a prior tax return.

2027 Open Enrollment FAQs

Can I enroll before November 1?

Marketplace Open Enrollment begins November 1. Before then, you may be able to enroll if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period or for Medicaid or CHIP.

Can I enroll after January 15?

Generally, you need a qualifying life event to enroll in Marketplace coverage after Open Enrollment ends. Medicaid and CHIP applications are accepted throughout the year.

Will my 2026 plan automatically continue?

It may, but renewal is not guaranteed in every situation. Even when renewal is available, premiums, benefits and networks may change.

Can I receive a premium tax credit?

Eligibility depends on current federal rules, household income, household size and access to other qualifying coverage. The Marketplace determines eligibility from the application.

Can I complete enrollment without speaking to an agent?

Yes. Aura Insure is designed to let eligible consumers compare plans and complete enrollment online. Assistance is available if requested, but a sales call is not required.
