When does Texas Open Enrollment begin for 2027?
Open Enrollment begins November 1, 2026.
What is the deadline for January 1 coverage?
Enroll or change plans by December 15, 2026, for coverage scheduled to begin January 1, 2027. You must also pay any required first premium.
What happens if I enroll after December 15?
Consumers enrolling between December 16, 2026, and January 15, 2027, generally have coverage beginning February 1, 2027.
Do I need a qualifying life event during Open Enrollment?
No. Eligible consumers can enroll during the annual Open Enrollment Period without experiencing a qualifying life event.
Is Obamacare available in Texas?
Yes. Eligible Texas residents can apply for Affordable Care Act Marketplace coverage. Texas’s decision not to expand Medicaid does not eliminate the individual Marketplace.

Can I receive help paying my premium?
Possibly. Eligibility depends on current federal rules and application information, including household size, projected income and access to other qualifying coverage.

Can I get a $0-premium plan?
Some eligible Texans may find a $0-premium option after an applicable premium tax credit. Deductibles, copayments, coinsurance and other costs may still apply.

Yes. Eligible consumers can compare available Texas plans and complete Marketplace enrollment online through Aura Insure without a mandatory sales call. Documentation or additional verification may be required.
Can I enroll after January 15?
After Open Enrollment ends, you generally need a qualifying life event to enroll through a Special Enrollment Period. Medicaid and CHIP applications are accepted throughout the year.
Where do I pay my first premium?
Pay the first premium directly to the insurance company. Coverage will not become active until the company receives any required payment.
