DALLAS, TX - Aetna CVS Health has announced it will exit the Individual and Family Plan business, also known as ACA Marketplaces or Exchanges, in all states where it directly offers these products. The exit will take effect December 31, 2025, giving current members a full year to transition to new coverage options.

In a statement released today, Aetna CVS Health explained that after evaluating future plan options, the company determined it would not be able to maintain the same level of value offered to members in previous years. Despite this decision, the insurer emphasized its commitment to supporting existing members throughout 2025.

"This announcement represents a significant shift in the ACA marketplace landscape," said Ericka Luddy, CEO of Aura Insure. "While Aetna CVS Health's departure will impact many individuals and families, we want to assure those affected that there will be straightforward options available to help them transition smoothly to new coverage for 2026."

Current Aetna CVS Health plan members will experience no immediate changes to their coverage or service levels for the remainder of 2025. The company has outlined a clear timeline for the transition, with members set to receive formal notification letters with detailed information and next steps by July 1, 2025.

During the fall 2025 Open Enrollment period, affected members will need to select new health insurance plans with different carriers to maintain coverage for 2026. This timeline provides consumers with several months to research and evaluate alternative options.

"At Aura Insure, we specialize in simplifying the health insurance selection process for self-employed individuals, gig workers, and small businesses," Luddy added. "We're prepared to guide Aetna CVS Health customers through this transition period, helping them find plans that meet their specific needs and budgets."

Aetna CVS Health has been participating in the ACA Marketplaces since 2022. The company noted in its announcement that it remains proud of its achievements in the Exchanges and will continue supporting brokers and customers throughout the remainder of 2025.

This development comes as the health insurance marketplace continues to evolve, with carriers regularly evaluating their participation based on market conditions, regulatory environments, and business objectives.
